Christmas is coming! 🎄
Christmas is coming! 🎄

A real tree is wonderful, but do you get hives or an itchy rash when putting up the tree? The oils, resins and sap can cause a marked allergic contact dermatitis for some people. If this happens to you - don’t forget to wear some gloves to stop it happening. This has a nick name of Christmas Tree syndrome.

Gloves and long sleeves might also be a good idea if you have hand eczema as it can really irritate the skin, remember to moisturise afterwards and use your steroid cream if needs be.

I love real trees, but some people note that they can get wheezy and sneezy around real or fake trees - maybe you are sensitised to moulds, pollens, or house dust mites on them.

Wiping ornaments, cleaning fake trees, or shaking or rinsing real ones are some suggestions that people use to reduce these symptoms.

Nevertheless, we hope you manage to decorate your house safely and with minimal allergy symptoms! 🎀
